What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, also known as a vampire facial, is an incredible bio-aesthetic tool in Big Life’s arsenal of anti-aging therapies. It’s all natural and delivers incredible results. Seriously – this one is a staff favorite. Best of all, because we are using the patient’s own blood, we avoid delivering potentially harmful foreign substances to the body – especially in the oh-so-sensitive facial region.
The procedure involves drawing blood from the arm, separating the platelets from the rest of the blood in our lab, and then injecting the platelets back into the face. The platelets contain growth factors that stimulate cell reproduction and tissue regeneration. We’re literally using the nutrients of your own body to heal itself.
PRP therapy can help with skin texture and tone. It can make the skin look tighter, fuller, and smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth and eyes. It can also alleviate the appearance of scars caused by acne and surgical procedures.
We often use PRP to plump up sagging skin and hollowing effects in areas like the cheeks, temples, and tear trough grooves. Best of all, PRP triggers collagen production, which improves skin tone and texture from within.
PRP isn’t an instant treatment, with full results taking as long as 4-6 weeks to really emerge. We often recommend two treatments when patients begin PRP, typically about three months apart, and then one treatment annually for maintenance.
